Pell finishes his talk with a reflection on the limitations of today’s exhibition spaces. Nowadays, in museums, people are allowed to appreciate wild untouched organisms, distant evolutionary history or shiny new technology. But the space where they merge, they push against each other and they compete with one another, the viewer is encouraged to take up positions. So the Center for PostNatural History fills up that gap in between where people can freely think about the existence of specimens, like a genetically modified goat that milks spider silk, without being told how to think about it.
